Moderator: Tonight we'll be chatting with Michael Rosenbaum. Moderator: He stars as Jack on Touchstone Television's "Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane" Moderator: on the WB every Sunday at 9 p.m. Moderator: So let's welcome to the stage Michael Rosenbaum. Michael_Rosenbaum: Hello, all, greetings from your friend Michael a.k.a. "Jack." Michael_Rosenbaum: I hope there's more than one of you out there. mikylsgirl: When did you start acting? And what was your first acting job? Michael_Rosenbaum: I started acting in high school Michael_Rosenbaum: and my first play was "Grease" Michael_Rosenbaum: and I played Vince Fontaine the wacky DJ Michael_Rosenbaum: and I was scared out of my mind. Michael_Rosenbaum: I was on stage in front of all those people Michael_Rosenbaum: it was my first time Michael_Rosenbaum: on stage. Michael_Rosenbaum: I was always trying to get accepted in high school like Michael_Rosenbaum: everyone else, so I didn't want to fail. christina: where are you orrigionally from? Michael_Rosenbaum: I was born in Ocean Side, New York Michael_Rosenbaum: but I grew up in a small town in Indiana. Michael_Rosenbaum: Newburghh, Indiana. Michael_Rosenbaum: An hour and a half south of Indianapolis. zoejack: How would you describe your character Jack? Michael_Rosenbaum: Jack is cocky, witty, self-indulged Michael_Rosenbaum: cheesy, lovable, etc. etc.... gigigi: How much are you like your character, Jack? Michael_Rosenbaum: I'm not as cocky, I'm half as self-indulged Michael_Rosenbaum: definitely lovable, and a little cheesy at times - Michael_Rosenbaum: I like 80s music! Michael_Rosenbaum: Sue me. jacknjill: You are so cute!!! ilovezdjj: I LOVE YOU MICHAEL!!! valentinegal: I LOVE you Michael! @--->-- What do you look for in a girl? Michael_Rosenbaum: I like a girl that makes me laugh… Michael_Rosenbaum: and a girl that doesn't mind when I hang out with my friends Michael_Rosenbaum: and I just LIKE GIRLS! soozieb: You are SO cute! Have you met many of your fans? Michael_Rosenbaum: Yeah, they've approached me... Michael_Rosenbaum: It's always a joy to have someone appreciate your work. Michael_Rosenbaum: I get a little embarrassed, a little red in the face. gmg123: What's the weirdest thing a fan has done? Michael_Rosenbaum: A woman at Staples recently came up to me and Michael_Rosenbaum: quoted a line from an episode I had said, Michael_Rosenbaum: I had said, "Me like!" Michael_Rosenbaum: Then in Staples, she came up to me and said, Michael_Rosenbaum: "Me like!" Michael_Rosenbaum: I said, "Me scared." Michael_Rosenbaum: But it was very amusing and she said she was a big fan. amy: Hey it's amy wruble & maddie hammond from nyc saying hi Michael_Rosenbaum: Howdy! Michael_Rosenbaum: I love New York! Michael_Rosenbaum: It's the best city in the world. Michael_Rosenbaum: I miss it. Go see a Ranger game for me! Michael_Rosenbaum: And keep your wallets in your front pocket! sef14: How did you get "discovered"? have you always wanted to act? Michael_Rosenbaum: I auditioned for a part in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" Michael_Rosenbaum: and after that I started getting attention in the industry. Michael_Rosenbaum: I don't know if that was my "big break," Michael_Rosenbaum: but "Zoe" is probably my biggest break to date. Michael_Rosenbaum: If that answers your question. Moderator: What was it like working with Clint Eastwood? Michael_Rosenbaum: It was awesome. I don't know another adjective to describe Michael_Rosenbaum: Clint Eastwood other than "awesome." Michael_Rosenbaum: An amazing individual. Michael_Rosenbaum: It was numbing, Michael_Rosenbaum: I mean, I worked with Dirty Harry!!! chica_boricua: hi from my little island of Puerto Rico chica_boricua: are u married or were or do u have a girlfriend? Michael_Rosenbaum: No. No. And a big NO! Michael_Rosenbaum: Why? melissabb: What actor do you most admire? Michael_Rosenbaum: I'm a big Gary Oldman fan. Michael_Rosenbaum: I consider him to be the most versatile actor out there Michael_Rosenbaum: and the most entertaining to watch. mikebinbg: is it true you once wore bowling shoes to class at western Kentucky.... Michael_Rosenbaum: I still have those shoes. Michael_Rosenbaum: Who's this? Michael_Rosenbaum: Speak! Come forward, you! mmmbbb: Michael, I love your work on Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane!! How long did it take for you to get the part of Jack? Michael_Rosenbaum: I was actually friends with David Moscow who plays "Duncan." Michael_Rosenbaum: I saw him walking down the street while I was driving Michael_Rosenbaum: and I yelled "David" and he saw me and said "Mike" and hopped in my van. Michael_Rosenbaum: And I asked him what he was doing Michael_Rosenbaum: and he said he was testing for "Zoe Bean" Michael_Rosenbaum: and I thought he said "Soy Bean." Michael_Rosenbaum: Three months later Michael_Rosenbaum: I was offered the part of Jack on the show Michael_Rosenbaum: and I happily accepted. zdjj: Do you get along with your other co-stars? Michael_Rosenbaum: Yes, they're all crazy like me and I love them! dkig: What's your favorite episode of the show? Michael_Rosenbaum: I really like this episode that's coming up this Sunday Michael_Rosenbaum: called "When Zoe Met Johnny" Michael_Rosenbaum: and I have a fun dance routine that I'm sure all of you will tune in to see! Michael_Rosenbaum: It really shows all of our characters personalities coming out. dlkue: How long does it take you to tape an episode? Michael_Rosenbaum: A week. Michael_Rosenbaum: A long, hard ... week. abc123: Do you and the other actors on Z,D,J & J play pranks on each other? Michael_Rosenbaum: Oh...yes, yes, indeed. Michael_Rosenbaum: In fact, Selma Blair, Zoe, likes to put bubble gum in my orange juice in the morning Michael_Rosenbaum: and watch me drink it to the bottom Michael_Rosenbaum: while she sits in the corner giggling, Michael_Rosenbaum: resembling Linda Blair in "The Exorcist" with that demonic look of joy. Michael_Rosenbaum: So, yes, yes, we do. markh44: This is cool and the show is great! What's the hardest part about being an actor? Michael_Rosenbaum: No matter how much you try to deal with it, rejection is never fun. Michael_Rosenbaum: Whether you're an actor or asking a girl on a date, rejection's no fun. Michael_Rosenbaum: Being broke can suck! zdjjfreak: Do people recognize you walking down the street? Michael_Rosenbaum: Occasionally. Michael_Rosenbaum: Recently yes, but I always tell them I'm not David Duchnovy... Michael_Rosenbaum: just kidding! Michael_Rosenbaum: But yes recently they have noticed me from "ZDJ & J" yoyoyo: Do you go online and surf the net? Michael_Rosenbaum: yoyoyo, I'm learning. Michael_Rosenbaum: I guess it's inevitable. dayviddayvid: What does your family think about your acting career? Michael_Rosenbaum: At first they thought I was an idiot Michael_Rosenbaum: because I wasn't making any money and I was in productions nobody would see. Michael_Rosenbaum: They've actually have always been very supportive. Michael_Rosenbaum: They know I'm a freak. themichaelman: Is working in Hollywood really as cutthroat as everyone says? Michael_Rosenbaum: It is if you let it get to you. Michael_Rosenbaum: You've got to get away, you've got to visit your friends who have been with you since the beginning, Michael_Rosenbaum: not go out too much, take everything with a grain of salt, Michael_Rosenbaum: just like life. lisdulink: Did you have any weird odd jobs while supporting your acting career? Michael_Rosenbaum: I worked in telemarketing Michael_Rosenbaum: and I've never been so edgy. Michael_Rosenbaum: I've always waited tables and Michael_Rosenbaum: I've also begged Mom for money. jackfan: Didn't you used to be on the Conan O'Brien show? Michael_Rosenbaum: Yes! I was a reoccurring character known as the Amsterdam Kid about 3 years ago. Michael_Rosenbaum: I did it for about 4 or 5 months. Michael_Rosenbaum: That was actually one of my big breaks on national television. Michael_Rosenbaum: I thought it was huge. Michael_Rosenbaum: But in those days nobody watched Conan O'Brien. Michael_Rosenbaum: Now they do, so Conan, if you're out there… Michael_Rosenbaum: ha ha! calliope: If I may, How old are you? When is your birthday? Michael_Rosenbaum: I turned 26 on July 11th of last year. Michael_Rosenbaum: I'm an old man. himike: Do you speak any foreign languages? Michael_Rosenbaum: A little bit of everything -- very little. cbc562: What's your favorite book? favorite author? Michael_Rosenbaum: I like the "Celestine Prophesy" by James Redfield. Michael_Rosenbaum: I really got into it…it's an inspiring book. heyday: Have you ever done any stand up comedy? You're pretty funny Michael_Rosenbaum: I've tried it once or twice and although I was somewhat successful at it, Michael_Rosenbaum: I have never been so terrified in my life. Michael_Rosenbaum: But thank you for thinking that I'm funny. riffkitten8: Are you interested in other careers in tv /film, like directing, etc.? Michael_Rosenbaum: Absolutely. I'm writing a screenplay now. Michael_Rosenbaum: My whole life I've been really creative. I don't think I could stop at acting Michael_Rosenbaum: although I should probably concentrate on it now, Michael_Rosenbaum: wait until I'm successful, really successful, Michael_Rosenbaum: and then delve into other aspects of the entertainment industry. Michael_Rosenbaum: But to answer your question, Yes. mbfan: What advice would you give someone trying to get into acting? Michael_Rosenbaum: Suck it in! Michael_Rosenbaum: It's all perseverance, Michael_Rosenbaum: a lot of faith, Michael_Rosenbaum: not letting it eat you up. Michael_Rosenbaum: Just keep working and studying. Michael_Rosenbaum: Don't be picky at first. Michael_Rosenbaum: Experience is everything. Michael_Rosenbaum: I did a lot of stuff that's not on my resume Michael_Rosenbaum: but it's adds up. iluvmichael: Do you play sports? iluvmichael: What's your favorite sport? Michael_Rosenbaum: I am a hockey fanatic. Michael_Rosenbaum: I play every week. Michael_Rosenbaum: Ice hockey, that is. Michael_Rosenbaum: I am a huge Rangers fan. luvdisney: What do you see happening in the upcoming year for the show? Michael_Rosenbaum: I think after they move us away from the X-Files and the Golden Globes and the Super Bowl, Michael_Rosenbaum: we'll be just fine. Michael_Rosenbaum: I think we have a lot of potential. Michael_Rosenbaum: We have great chemistry, Michael_Rosenbaum: great writers on the show Michael_Rosenbaum: and I think they'll give it a chance to develop Michael_Rosenbaum: to become the next "Friends" or "Seinfeld" or whatever's successful. wbfreak: have you ever met any of the other wb stars? Michael_Rosenbaum: Yeah, I did a movie "Urban Legend" with Josh Jackson. Michael_Rosenbaum: I met Boreanaz from "Buffy" Michael_Rosenbaum: he's a really nice guy. Michael_Rosenbaum: But "Zoe, Duncan, and Jane" are the coolest. Michael_Rosenbaum: Hands down. kekeke: Who would you consider your role model? Michael_Rosenbaum: Not to be cheesy, but my grandfather. Michael_Rosenbaum: He's an inspiration. Michael_Rosenbaum: A family man. Michael_Rosenbaum: Etc. candie: Hey, What's up? How are things out in L. A.? We miss you here in Indiana. Michael_Rosenbaum: Everything's great! Michael_Rosenbaum: Weather's warmer than there. Michael_Rosenbaum: Of course, it's probably a little less smoggy there. Michael_Rosenbaum: I miss you all there. Michael_Rosenbaum: I can't wait to get back to Indiana. Michael_Rosenbaum: Go Hoosiers! watchintv4ever: I watch your show all the time! Do you hang out with the other actors on the show? Michael_Rosenbaum: Yeah, every once in a while we'll hang out. Michael_Rosenbaum: We've all got our own things going on. Michael_Rosenbaum: David's back in NYC and the girls and myself are back here. recccess: do you have a pet? if so what kind? What is its name? Michael_Rosenbaum: I don't have a pet but I'm interested in getting a golden retriever. Michael_Rosenbaum: They're the best dogs. pollyanna: Do you go to the beach in LA? What do you like to do on your weekends? Michael_Rosenbaum: Yes, I go to the beach. Michael_Rosenbaum: And on weekends I like to relax and go hiking or just sit back and watch movies Michael_Rosenbaum: and get fat. lisalee: Have you ever done any extreme sports (skydiving, bungee jumping)? Michael_Rosenbaum: I was shot out of a cannon once. Just kidding. Michael_Rosenbaum: But I'm willing to try something a little daring... qrd561: Do you still talk to Tom Arnold? Michael_Rosenbaum: Yeah. In fact, Tom and I go to a lot of hockey games together. Michael_Rosenbaum: He's a lot of fun. jack4ever: Do you have any bad habits? Michael_Rosenbaum: I don't call my mom back a lot. Is that a bad habit? Michael_Rosenbaum: Actually, I think it's a good habit. Michael_Rosenbaum: Just joshin'. jackiscool: How do you feel about the show's success? Michael_Rosenbaum: Time will tell, but for the time being it's doing great. Michael_Rosenbaum: Tell your friends, tell your friends to tell their friends, and so on and so on. melyssam: What's the best thing about being on a tv series? Michael_Rosenbaum: You get to be on TV! Michael_Rosenbaum: Every week! zxzxzx: What role do you feel you did your best acting in? Michael_Rosenbaum: I think in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." Michael_Rosenbaum: I had a small role but Michael_Rosenbaum: I think I was true to my character. dnei78: If you could play any acting part, what would it be? Michael_Rosenbaum: I'd like to play Shaggy in Scooby Doo. Michael_Rosenbaum: Sounds like it'd be fun. Michael_Rosenbaum: My friend Matt in NYC will get a kick out of that. Michael_Rosenbaum: He always tells me that when I grow a little goatee I look like Shaggy. jenleigh7: whats your middle name those are really important to know? Michael_Rosenbaum: Cosmo. Michael_Rosenbaum: Just kidding. It's Owen. jaxccc: Is there any acting jobs you would NOT consider? Michael_Rosenbaum: Jobs where I didn't think the role was a challenge Michael_Rosenbaum: or the movie wasn't inventive or original. stephen_h: ask him if he likes comic books Michael_Rosenbaum: You know, all my friends do. Michael_Rosenbaum: I definitely respect comic books Michael_Rosenbaum: but I haven't really gotten into them. zdjjfan: Do you think your good lucks helped you with your career? By the way, I love the hair! Michael_Rosenbaum: You really think I'm good looking? Michael_Rosenbaum: Wow, thanks. Michael_Rosenbaum smiles. Michael_Rosenbaum: I think I have gotten better looking since I was younger. Michael_Rosenbaum: Thank God! Michael_Rosenbaum: But I think personality is more important. Michael_Rosenbaum: You can charm anybody with personality, Michael_Rosenbaum: more so than looks. Michael_Rosenbaum: Don't you think? ambient-spark: what were you like as a teen? Michael_Rosenbaum: My parents were big hippies so I like Michael_Rosenbaum: CSN, Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Michael_Rosenbaum: America, and I'm also a big 80s fan. sllple: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment? Michael_Rosenbaum: Packing my bags and taking a shot and driving to NYC Michael_Rosenbaum: from college with nothing except some Sinatra and a couple boxes of clothes.
